Lithium is a suite of network, server and storage monitoring applications with support for industry standard SNMP and proprietary monitoring protocols including those used by Apple’s Xserve, Xsan and Xserve RAID devices.

Lithium Core 5.0 has an embedded HTTP and XML/HTTP server running on a custom port to host Lithium Web and provide the protocol interface between Console, Touch and Lithium Core.

Previous versions of Lithium installed into the “Lithium” folder at the root of the hosts system drive. Now in Lithium 5.0, a new file system layout has been chosen which follows Apple’s recommendations for Mac OS X applications.

The version of RRDtool used by Lithium Core for metric data recording has been upgraded to RRDtool 1.3.4 in Lithium Core 5.0.

Lithium Core 5.0 now uses PostgreSQL 8.3.3.
