Lithium is a suite of network, server and storage monitoring applications with support for industry standard SNMP and proprietary monitoring protocols including those used by Apple’s Xserve, Xsan and Xserve RAID devices.

With the Process Monitoring feature, Lithium is now able to monitor the list of processes running on your monitored devices to track what applications are running, how many processes are present and the CPU and memory utilisation for configured process types.

For example, you can tell Lithium to monitor the behaviour of all processes matching the name ‘httpd’ on a given host. Lithium will then track how many ‘httpd’ processes are present as well as the maximum-single and aggregate total CPU and Memory usage for all ‘httpd’ processes. If the host has no ‘httpd’ processes present, an alert will be raised. If any single process or the group of processes exceeds any of the CPU or Memory utilisation thresholds you set then an alert will be raised.
