Lithium is a suite of network, server and storage monitoring applications with support for industry standard SNMP and proprietary monitoring protocols including those used by Apple’s Xserve, Xsan and Xserve RAID devices.

Using the Groups feature in Lithium Console, you can create a hierarchical tree structure of groups and entities to display your monitoring data however you want.

Groups are essentially free-form folders for any monitored entity in Lithium such as a Device, Object or Metric. Lithium has a built-in structure of Customer, Sites and Devices for arranging the individual monitored devices in your Lithium deployment. Groups allows you to augment this by allow you to create a structure that suits your needs.

The Groups feature is particularly useful for creating a cross-section view of the traditional Customer, Site and Device hierarchy Lithium uses. Creating a group, or a group-inside-a-group and adding objects to it allows you to see the status and history of those items in the one view through Lithium Console.
