Console 4.9 used a separate NIB (static interface document) for each different object type in each of the built-in Device Modules that shipped with Lithium. As the number of devices Lithium supported grew, and with the introduction of user-created Device Modules it became necessary to create a new Container and Object view in Console 5.0.
The new Container and Object Views are drawn dynamically rather than relying on a static interface definition. Which metrics are displayed is determined by whether or not a metric is recorded and/or whether any triggers have been applied. Based on these two factors, the most relevant metrics for each object are shown in the summary view with the full metric list shown in the Inspector when an Object is selected.
You can also hide the Metrics for a given Object by clicking on the disclosure triangle next to the Object name. Whether or not the Metrics for an Object should be shown or hidden is remembered by Console for each individual Object.
