Know what’s being installed.

Lithium Core includes a self-contained instance of PostgreSQL (SQL Database), Apache running as ‘clientd’, RRDtool running as ‘lcrrdtool’ and nmap. These components run as self-contained instances on custom port and socket locations to avoid conflicts. Under Mac OS X, it is possible though that some conflict may be experienced if another application is running that uses PostgreSQL — in particular Daylite Server or Atempo. This is not an issue for CoreVM where all processes run under the Virtual Machine appliance.

Lithium Core Virtual Machine Appliance

Lithium CoreVM is a Virtual Machine Appliance designed for VMware and OVF-compatible Virtualization platforms. It allows you to boot a Lithium Core instance than is ready to use in a Virtual Machine. Avoid any setup hassles or conflicts by keeping your Lithium Core instance contained within the Virtual Machine. Using CoreVM with ESXi requires the vmdk disk files to be converted to an ESXi-compatible format using VMware Converter.
